The Arizona Riparian Council will be having their annual meeting this spring in the Gila River watershed.

The meeting will be co-hosted by the Gila Watershed Partnership and will be held March 29 through 31.  On Thursday, March 29, there will be a workshop conducted by Natural Channel Design on how to plan a stream restoration project.  A real case study of a project being implemented on the Gila River will be used.  Friday morning will feature four invited speakers and a panel discussion on issues pertaining to the Gila River, and the afternoon will contain a technical session.  A call for papers for the technical session will be coming out soon.  On Saturday, the 31st, we will enjoy a field trip to an actual stream restoration project - the Apache Grove Project, a farm/ranching operation near Duncan.

Four university students were selected out of 34 applicants this year to receive a $1,000 scholarship from AZAEP.

This brings our total scholarship awards to over $18,000 since the program began in 2007. The winners include Aletris Neils, Aimee Kessler, Katherine Weingartner, and Skyler Jackson. Each recipient will also speak at an upcoming meeting.
